Looking for a new romantic location to send my lovers to, and needing to get some exercise for an upcoming multi-day backpacking trip to Cape Scott (stay tuned in August!), I headed to Spectacle Lake for a hike and a swim.
Even though Spectacle Lake is only about a thirty minute drive from my house, I had never been before; however, a very trustworthy source told me that it was serene and lovely—perfect for romantic assignations.
It did NOT disappoint.
The loop around the lake is about two kilometres (1.24 miles), so I did three loops with a thirteen and a half kilogram (30 pound) backpack to make sure that I got some solid training in. The entire time, I couldn’t stop thinking how amazing it would be to walk along this lovely trail holding hands with a romantic interest—particularly one with broad shoulders and sexy abs.
This hike would be the perfect spot for an outing with a new partner , after you’d gotten past the awkwardness of the first couple of dates, and we were starting to feel like those tingles might be more than lust…
And after getting sweaty doing the loop (I would recommend a much slower pace, if you’re in the process of wooing someone—but that’s just me 😉), it’s time to refresh with a swim.
The water is deliciously chilly.
Today, the weather was overcast and without the sun’s heat, I could only swim for a little bit, and by the time I got home, I needed a hot bath to warm me up. But, let’s be honest, that is just more opportunity for steamy romance!
This was my first visit, but I have it on good authority, that this lake doesn’t get busy, even on hot Summer days—it’s secluded; it’s serene; and it’s stunning. The perfect triad for romance.
I’m not sure which book this lake—and its romantic potential—is going to appear in, but trust me that it will.
And I will be swimming in its waters again soon!
